Hold the wilderness in the palm of your hand.

Star of Alaska is rare covellite from the remote Alaska wilderness. A gem-quality stone, mined at Alaska's most famous mine owned by J.P. Morgan and the Guggenheim family, located in the remote wilderness of the St. Elias mountain range. The production from the Kennecott Mine is considered the finest quality covellite in the world because of the large, pure, massive pieces. The mine opened in 1906 and closed permanently in 1938 and later became a National Historic Landmark within the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve, making the gems very scarce. For years, the bulk of the Kennecott Mine covellite stones were held in a private collection. In the spirit of the Klondike Gold Rush, Rosemary Libert found the stones in an estate sale…she knew she hit pay dirt. Mined in the rugged and starkly beautiful Alaskan wilderness the gems represent the spirit of the people who call Alaska home. These rare gems reflect its lineage, formed authentically in the last frontier and named Star of Alaska™.

Star of Alaska jewelry is handcrafted in the United States of America by OroCal, an acclaimed Alaskan jewelry manufacturer. All pieces of covellite are hand cut to fit the jewelry design, then properly shined using 6 different jewelry polishing wheels. Because covellite is found in nature, each piece of jewelry is one of a kind, with slight variations in veining.

Star of Alaska jewelry comes with a five-year warranty except for the included chains. The *A* stamp on each piece is an assurance of its authenticity. Every Star of Alaska piece comes with a certificate of authenticity/registration listing the customer name, exclusive retailer, item number, and date of purchase.
